Main scientific achievements made over the last five years: |
The revised and added "Azerbaijan flora" (1-2 volume) has been prepared for publication. For the first time 2 families, 5 genus and 13 species for Azerbaijan flora established. The new regions of dissemination are defined for 9 species. A number of high-productive local kinds wheat resistant to drought and high temperature was revealed. Belougius of some plastids genes to G32 type potential promotors of rice and maize plants has been discovered. Proteins Elip(initially induced by light) with molecular weight 20.5-19.0 and 17.5-15.5 kDa at tilakoid chloroplasts membranes of wheat scelings was found. |

Brief information on the organization’s history: |
Institute was established in 1936. First director was outstanding investigator of Caucasus flora, academician A.A.Grossheim. Professors V.I.Ulyanischev, L.I.Prilipko, M.G.Abutalibov, Ya.M.Isayev, B.Kh.Tutayuk, G.E.Kapinos, Sh.O.Barchalov et all had played the great role in specialists preparation in field of botany. Immense achievements in modern scientific trends-molecular biology and genetics of plant and integration of the Institute to world science belong to academician J.A.Aliyev. At present there are 140 research workers, among them 2 active members and 5-corresponding members of ANAS, 13 doctors, 96- candidate of Sciences. |
