Main area of activity of the structural unit:

Study of taxanomical composition and formation history of the flora of Azerbaijan. Research of systematis of taxon: taxonomy, geography, phylogenetic relationships, the migration ways. Discovery and study of rare and disappearing species in flora of Azerbaijan.

Main scientific achievements of the structural unit:

8-volume"Flora of Azerbaijan"has been poblisted(1950-1961)and has been preparated 1-2 volumes of "Flora of Azerbaijan" for the second edition in Azerbaijan language. The "Ked Baok"of Azerbaijan has been published. Individual genera of the familes such as Asteraccae, Lamiaccae, Brassicauae, Boraginacial have been westigated for Azerbaijani flora.
