Main scientific achievements: |
Research works carried out by S.Y.Suieymanov basically
focus on the study of the structural - molecular organization and topography
of pigment - protein complexes of thylakoid membranes of the higher plants
(spinach, wheat), regulation of their formation in chloroplasts. He is
leading specialist in the field of biochemistry, biophysics and plant
physiology. Through research works conducted by him the structural and
molecular organization of thylakoid membranes of chloroplasts has been
studied and topography of chlorophyll - protein complexes was modeled and
principles of formation in plants have been determined. The studies resulted
in significant findings including:

It was found out that lipoprotein fraction of
chloroplasts presents the sum of protein components of thylakoids.
Peptides, lipids, and carbohydrates strongly linked to an protein part (apoprotein)
of lipoprotein membranes was found at all stages of
chloroplasts formation.

By comparative research thylakoid gran and stroma of
wheat ohluroplasts it was revealed, that they differ by spectral
properties, a set of forms of chlorophyll, polypeptide structure and the
organization of chlorophyll - protein complexes. Six chlorophyll-proteins
were revealed for thylakoid gran, but four for thylakoid stroma.

The analysis of proteins of thytakoid membranes of
wheat genotypes resistant and susceptible to drought has shown that
under water stress resistant wheat variety majority of Chl forms -
mainly parallel, but Chi forms at 648 and 656 nanometers - mainly
perpendicular.

For the first time both in light-harvesting, and in
antenna complex of PS I presence of three Chi forms were revealed at
648, 651 and 656 nm with identical character of their orientation which
would testify to a generality in the organization of forms of a
chlorophyll in these complexes.

It is shown, that in greening process bleached out
wheat sprouts in the spectrum of fluorescence (77 ) the strip at
727 nm (describing nucleus PS I), is completely -wave area up to 740-742
nm, that clearly shows light-driven light-harvesting complex (LHC I.)
and its assembly with nuclear complex PS I.

It was revealed, that specific inhibitor
transcriptions on 70 S ribosome chloroplasts - lyncomycin blocks synthesis
of apoprotein 700 with molecular weight 72 kD , assembly Chi of
-protein C 1 and synthesis of polypeptides 48: 43,5 and 32 kD
belonging to complex PS II. Thus reaction center Chl forms (PS) PS U
disappear at 683 nm and PS I at 690, 696 and 705 nm. At the same action
cycloheximide - inhibitor translation on 80 S ribosomes of cytoplasm in
reduction of polypeptides in light-harvesting complex in the field of
29,5-22 kDa and in reduction contents of the basic forms of a
chlorophyll.
