Synthesis, study of structure, properties, reactivity and catalytic activity of metal complex compounds.

The works on synthesis, study of structure and the properties of metal complexes with chelating stable radicals carried out in the laboratory laid the foundation of a new trend in chemistry of coordination compounds and homogeneous catalysis. The crystalline complex compounds of metals with ligands containing stable radical groups in their composition have been synthesized first, their crystalline and molecular structure has been studied, the distances between paramagnetic centres have been determined, the energies of exchange interactions between spin centres has been calculated and estimated for the first time. It is shown that in a majority of metal chelate complexes the metal-radical distance is no less than 0,5 nm. It is established that entering of radical centre (nitroxyl) into coordination sphere of metal ion (copper) leads to its activation in the redox reactions. The C-C oxidizing coupling in ligands coordinated with metal ions has been found. In recent years the works on redox-reactions in ligands coordinated with metal ion with participation of azomethine group have been carried out.
