Main area of activity of organization: | Investigation of flora, fauna and soil diversity of Azerbaijan as well protection of the gene pool and its sustainable

introduction, documentation through the complex investigation and use of the agricultural
plants, animals and their wild forms. |

Main scientific achievements made over the last five years: |
1.
A Fir-liked with branchy wheat ear and not met in the world
literature and world practice up to now, new wheat (2n=28) was obtained on
the result of mutation with a non-traditional form in the F2 from a compound
hybrid combination 2.
A computer Data Base covering about 5000 plant accessions' passport
data was established and on the base of the Moll concluded with the (PGM)
was loaded into the internet Web site of the EUKISCO catalogue. 3.
In the Reichenbachi Diversity of hard wheat a new allele of
gliadin-coding locus have been identified 4.
A National Report on the Genetic Resources of Agricultural Animals
has been worked out. The Report is loaded into the Internet web site of the
FAO. |

Brief information on the organization's history: | In accordance
with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Azerbaijan Republic ¹12, dated of 30th of January 2003 and on the Institute of
Genetics and Selection a Genetic Resources Institute of Azerbaijan
National Academy of Sciences has been established. |
