	Main area of activity of the structural unit:	Arid zone covers approximately 70% of total territory of the republic with dry subtropics climate with intensive degradation process of soil cover. Carried out investigations give possibility to solve rational utilization of natural-soil resources
	Main scientific achievements of the structural unit:	On the basis of studies of soil covers and evolution of soils of arid zone were grounded the establishment and protection of valuable relict sparse growth of trees. The study is being continued.
