- keeping the domestic public informed about the beings on the geology science of the country, increasing public understanding and attention on geology;

- covering the geology science of Azerbaijan in the well-known foreign media publications, as a part of science communication between Azerbaijan’s scientists and the world scientific people;

Established in 2004, the Public Relation Department of the Geology Institute/ANAS prepares press releases about the activities of the institute including international conferences, projects and joint works on oil-gas, geoscience-tegnology, geodynamics, seismology, hydrogeology, geoecology, paleontology and etc. The department spreads them to domestic mass medias to keep the local public informed about news on the geology science of the country. As press service function, all this is a part of the PRD’s two areas of activities.

Pursuing the second area of its activities, the PRD pushes boundaries in science communication writing for foreign mass media outlets about science policy in Azerbaijan and achievements in other fields of science and technology of the country.

As well, up to now, the department has been able, firstly in history of the country’s science, to make published some science stories on the Azerbaijan science in foreign publications: Azerbaijan International (US), Natural History (US), New Scientist (UK), Поиск (Poisk - Search (Russia)) and etc.
