Investigation of  the history and theoretical problems of the  XX century  Azerbaijan Literature, evaluation of its development stages and problems from the point of view of contemporariness.
Main scientific achievements of the structural unit:

Investigation of  the main stages of the literary-historical process covering the period  of 20-90 -s of the XX century, on personalities have been carried out and published,  monographs on  different genres have been issued, the volume covering that period of Azerbaijan  literature has been prepared for publishing.
