Collection of materials and their investigation with Azerbaijan literature and culture, Preseratation the material things in the scientific funds of the museum. Their preseratation in the exposition and in the exhibitions. |

Main scientific achievements made over the last five years: |
The number of exhibits kept in the scientific funds of the museum rose from 58900 to 76000. The exposition was entirely reconstructed, the number of new halls was open. The hall dedicated to "Iraq-Turkmans culture" was inaguarated in 2001. For the first time in the history of the museum the hall dedicated to the history of national Mass-Media "Press hall" was formed. As a resualt of scientific researches lead in the museum the number of works, publications of the museum volume VIII-Xii were published. the booklets devoting to the exposition of the musuem, and the catalogues with the information about the materials kept in the scientific funds of the museum were published. |

Brief information on the organization’s history: |
The museum was organised according to decree of Azerbaijan SSR SNC on November 1, 1939, N4972 in connection with 800th anniversary of the great Azerbaijan poet Nizami Ganjavi´s birthday as a permanent exhibition of the house-museum. But the inaquaration of the museum took place on May14, 1945. Later the museum dedicated to Nizami´s creative activity was transformed into the museum of Azerbaijan literature named after Nizami Ganjavi. |
