Main area of activity of organization: | The protection of the environment introduction wild growing plantation of trees, herbaceous plant and their use of planting greenery in the Absheron peninsular. The main purpose is the exposure of valuable plants with essential oils, medical means and the studying of the plant chemical composition receive(valuable) new kinds and hybrids and their introduction in the different zones of Absheron. |

Main scientific achievements made over the last five years: | The 1st studied bioecological especial 80 kids trees made over the shrubs plants condition in the Absheron. The introduction of decorative plant and the used of them in the different fields of agriculture. The studied their development, dynamics, grown morphological, underground and overgrown of part of the plants in dependents appearance factories agrotechnics, biology, flowering. On the material of scientific research work was published (publication) 68 articles, 4 books and thesis, taking in scientific conference in the foreign (Turkey, Tbilisi, Ukrainian, Cyprus). |

Brief information on the organization’s history: | In 1926 hire scientific the All Union Applied Botanical was created East-Caucasus branch of the Institute by the academician V.I.Vavilov, since 1936 as the experimental station of dry subtropical plants. During 1945-64 the scientific-experimental basis of the Institute of Gardening, Viticulture and subtropical plants was created. In 1964-66 the arboretum was at the disposal of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Health. In 1966 the garden was given the Botanical Institute of Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences. From 1966 Mardakan Arboretum is attached to the ANAS. |
