Brief information on the organization's history: | Institute was organized on the base of the Azerbaijan oil Research Institute named after V. Kuibishev, founded in 1929. In 1959 it was renamed to Institute of Petrochemical Processes (PIP) in the system of the Azerbaijan Academy of sciences. A number of independent institutes – Chemistry of Additives, Theoretical Problems of Chemical Technology, Polymeric Materials (former institute of chlororganic synthesis), Institute of gas Problems(former VNIPIG az) as well as Sector of Radiation Researches have been founded on the bases of scientific potential of the Institute of Petrochemical processes. In the progress of the researches and in training of national specialists were prominent the outstanding scientists: L.G.Gurvich, N.D.Zelinskii, S.S.Nametkin, N.J.Chernozhukov, Yu.G.Mamedalliev, V.S.Aliev, A.M.Kuliev, M.A.Dalin, R.G.Ismanov, S.D.Mekhtiev and others. The directors of the institute were: academician M.F.Nagiev,(1959-1962)and academician V.S.Aliev (1962-1988) Since 1988 till now a director is academician M.I.Rustamov |
