Main area of activity of the structural unit:

  1. Investigation of the main layers and spreading areas of Azerbaijanian onomastic units.

  2. Preparation of Concise Onomastic  Dictionary.

  3. Solution of the orphographic and orphoepic problems of Azerbaijan onomastics.
Main scientific achievements of the structural unit:

At  the department of Onomastics was collected and investigated from linguistic point of view onomastic units of Turkish-Azerbaijan origin on the territory  of Azerbaijan , Georgia  and Armenia at the department of Onomastics. The publication of ''The Large Azerbaijanian Concise Onomastic Dictionary" was also prepared and represented.
