Main area of activity of the structural unit: | The parasite fauna of fish and other vertebrate and invertebrate animals in water bodies of different types and origin and in the Caspian Sea were studied, species composition was specified, species new for science were described, micro-morphology and protein composition of some parasites were studied, ecological and zoogeographical analyses were carried out.

Main scientific achievements of the structural unit: | Up to 400 parasites species of various taxonomic groups were revealed, 40 species and 2 genera were described as new for science on the ground of researches on model rivers and lakes parasitological prognoses were made, formation of the parasite fauna was explained, measures for struggle against parasitary diseases of fish, birds and humans.
